Jordan Fairclough’s Ultramarathon Journey
Former Nottingham Forest Academy player and Community Trust football coach Jordan Fairclough’s ultramarathon journey raises funds for mental health programmes.
In a world where physical challenges often take the spotlight, Jordan Fairclough, a member of Liverpool FC’s fitness department, undertook a massive challenge that went beyond physical endurance. His journey wasn’t just about finishing a 33-mile ultramarathon around Loch Ness; it was a meaningful exploration of mental strength and a powerful call for mental health awareness. He completed this remarkable achievement alongside his sister, Hannah and friend, Conor.
Jordan’s motivation stemmed from a personal revelation during the early phases of his training. As he pushed his body to its limits, he realised the ease with which he embraced physical challenges contrasted sharply with the difficulty he faced in expressing his emotions or acknowledging his struggles mentally. This introspection led him to confront the issue head-on and sparked a desire to advocate for mental health awareness.
Throughout his training, Jordan used his platform to share insights into his own mental health journey. His posts on Instagram (@jordanfairclough) provided a window into his experiences and offered valuable information on coping mechanisms and support resources. By baring his soul, Jordan hopes to inspire others to open up about their own struggles and to create a community of understanding and empathy.

What sets Jordan’s effort apart is his decision to support not just one, but two charities dedicated to mental health: The Nottingham Forest Community Trust and The LFC Foundation. With roots in both Nottingham, his hometown, and Liverpool, his adopted city, Jordan recognised the importance of addressing mental health issues within both communities.
Having spent 10 years as a footballer in Nottingham Forest’s academy, figuring for the first team at right-back during the pre-season schedule of 2009-10, he latterly worked as a community football coach for the Nottingham Forest Community Trust. Jordan witnessed first-hand the transformative power of football in uplifting communities and instilling vital life skills. Now, as a member of Liverpool FC’s staff, he continues to witness the positive impact of sports-based initiatives on mental health.
As Jordan embarks on his ultramarathon journey, he carries with him the hopes and aspirations of countless individuals touched by his message of resilience and hope. With every stride, he not only pushes his physical limits but also breaks down barriers surrounding mental health, one step at a time.
To those who have rallied behind Jordan’s cause, he extends his heartfelt gratitude. Every donation, no matter how small, contributes to the collective effort to destigmatise mental illness and promote mental well-being.
To Jordan, we extend our deepest thanks to Jordan for his extraordinary efforts in fundraising and advocating for mental health awareness. Together, with his support and the support of our community, we can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those who need it most.
To date, Jordan has raised over £3,400 for both causes.
